Summer's Here!

As school has officially wrapped up for the year, we have eagerly awaited the relaxed pace of summer.  The girls have been excited to stay up later and then sleep in a bit, and I have been looking forward to extra time spent with our two little ladies.  I think we are in for a neat summer experience, as Kate has grown enough to understand what we're doing, and Audrey is young enough to still love the little things about summer.  In the upcoming weeks, we'll experience story times at the library, parks, splash pads, bike rides, long walks, swimming lessons, and much, much more!

One thing the girls have already experienced is the sprinkler.  Audrey had been asking to get the sprinkler out ever since the temperature climbed above 55. :)  As soon as we finally agreed last weekend, the girls put their swimsuits on.  It was about three minutes into the sprinkler experience that they moved on to another outside activity, but those three minutes were packed with fun!

We are looking forward to a wonderful summer with our girls!

It's very interesting how, when you're two, things can go from this.....

to this, in a matter of ten seconds.

Funny Sayings

Audrey:  Over the weekend, Audrey made up two new contractions when she was speaking.

First, "amn't": "Mom, when I wear this, I amn't as pretty as Kate."
Second, "willn't": "I willn't be done with this when it's time to eat."

It almost sounds British, doesn't it?

Kate: Kate uses her little potty more and more, but we willn't dive fully into potty training until school is done.  Tonight she declared, though, that NO ONE is to empty her potty when she goes because she just wants her pee to get "bigger and bigger in dare."

What goofy ladies!

First Picnic of 2016

What a wonderful Mother's Day I had last weekend!  With the warmth of the spring sun on our backs, we enjoyed our first picnic of the year.  We tested out a new park and loved the play equipment.  Audrey and Kate enjoyed being our train conductors, and Audrey said she was driving us all the way to "Hi-a-fornia!"  None of us were quite sure where we were going, but with Audrey at the wheel, it was sure to be a fun trip!  The girls also enjoyed using their t-ball set, and I think Kate got some good pointers from her Geeka.  The most important one was that she needed to keep her eyes open when she was swinging the bat. :)

The best part of Mother's Day is reflecting on how grateful I am to be a mom to these crazy, dramatic, imaginative, playful, and beautiful little ladies!

Simple Moments

Sometimes the simplest moments can produce the best pictures!  Here's one warm spring evening of riding bikes...

Something happened with Kate's face between the first few and this one. There was work to be done in the dirt, which then was spread all over her face. :)
