T-Ball Team

And, just like that, the busy school year has ended, and summer is slowly settling in.  I just have one more work day to go, and then a more relaxed schedule can fully commence.  Here is one last t-ball post.  Audrey got both games in last week, and she did well!  It seems she had fun, and now we have all summer to work and practice together.  We played at a different field for the last two games, and Kate loved this new location.  A giant playground was within sight, so she was also very busy during the games!

Assembly

Last Thursday, Audrey was honored as one of the top readers in her class during the month of April.  To celebrate, she was invited to dump a bucket of ice water over the head of our elementary principal or one of our students on student council.  Audrey was way too mortified at the thought of dumping it on our principal's head, so she chose a familiar fifth grade girl instead.  She actually sat with my kindergarten class because I had to go pick her up from daycare for the afternoon assembly. I, then, had to walk up with her to act as her courage.  In the end, though, she loved the experience and was excited to tell her dad all about it!

T-Ball

T-Ball season is in full swing here!  Preschoolers join in with kindergarten students to form teams.  Audrey was put on the purple team, and after four practices, games started last week!  On the first night, Audrey was pretty hard on herself about how she had done.  As we talked on the drive home, she said, "Mom, I have a lot of work to do."  She practiced over the weekend, and it did seem like tonight went more smoothly!  It must have been those tips from Geeka. :)   We have three more games to go, so it will be fun to see how much she grows in those remaining games.

Audrey's number one fan, Kate, has been interesting to watch, too.  She does sit for a moment here or there, but the rest of the time, she's been running.  She has boundaries to follow, so she runs back and forth, takes a drink break, and then runs back and forth again.  We have to clap for her while she's running, so there is a lot of clapping going on!

Our Tiny Dancer

Our past weekend was filled with dancing fun!  On Friday night, Audrey had her rehearsal, and luckily, rehearsal priority went in order of age.  After hearing some horror stories of how long rehearsal can take, she and I were pretty pleased with the night.  Audrey danced all three of her dances, and then we were out in ninety minutes!   Whoo hoo!   I was immediately impressed with Audrey's confidence at rehearsal, as she showed no nerves about being on stage.

Saturday, then, was the actual recital.  Once again, Audrey showed pretty great poise and confidence for it being her first recital.  After getting slightly  nervous about being left in a classroom to wait without me, she had a lot of fun being up on stage and performing her dances.  It's also funny to listen to her thoughts and perspective about things, as she can be so serious about what she notices and questions.

Right now, I think she will be interested in dancing again in the fall.  No matter what becomes of her dancing career, this has been a great experience for her to build a little confidence and take steps in being independent.  Yeah, Aud!  Thanks to all who came to cheer our tiny dancer on!

P.S.  Another fun memory of the night was watching Miss Kate dance from the bleachers.  That girl has got some good moves! :)

Last Easter Post

Our uncooperative internet over the past week has kept blog posts to a minimum!  Here is our last Easter post.  As the girls were going to bed the night before Easter, I asked Audrey where she wanted to put the Easter baskets.  She said, "Just leave them here...on the floor."  I then said, "For the bunny to find?"  She said, "OH MY GOSH.  I completely forgot about the Easter Bunny!"  She then hurried, with the help of Grandma, to get baby carrots and all the baskets ready for the bunny.  She even had to scramble to create baskets for Mila, Belle, and Gus.  Luckily, Grandma had all the right supplies.

The next morning, the girls very excitedly hurried to see their baskets and were thrilled with the contents!  Belle and Mila even received some yummy cat food!  The excitement that happens with all holidays right now is priceless.  These sweet girls believe wholeheartedly in the magic.  A final happy Easter to all! :)
