Kate on the Run

I absolutely had to write down the memory from the weekend when the girls got their 2nd dose of the Covid vaccine. Aud was again about to pass out, so we had her go first. She ended up handling it just fine, but as she was finishing, Kate started to run away from pharmacy in Walmart to avoid her shot. Jeremy snagged her and hauled her back, but thinking about it later made me laugh out loud! Kate was taking control of her own medical decisions, I guess!

Galena Weekend

We were able to sneak away a few weekends ago for a quick family trip to Galena. Thankfully everyone was healthy, so that the cousins could all get good time together. Geeka and Grandma again planned a chilly, tricky egg hunt, but surprisingly enough, all eggs were located!

There were lots of giggles, Aud got some good cuddles in with the littles, some mischievous moments with Kate, and a few little squabbles mixed in, which all added up to some priceless memories with all six cousins. One of my favorite memories is having my "big girl" shop with me all day, along with my sisters. Aud is growing up too quickly, and these moments with her mean so much to me.

We love our family time and are so thankful it could happen this year!

Happy Birthday, Audrey!

How is it that Audrey is 10? It is so amazing how quickly the years go. Audrey declared at the end of yesterday that it had been her best birthday ever. 😁 She had a great day at school, complete with personalized cookies decorated in a dog theme. Five of her friends joined us for a party at a trampoline park, and she ended the night with a sleepover with me in our bed.  It was a busy day, but Audrey ended it with a full heart!

Audrey, you are growing into a such an amazing young lady. Your compassionate heart for animals and young children is so sweet. Your love of art and music has proved to be a nice calming activity for you, and we have also been so excited to see your confidence grow. We are so proud to be your parents, Aud! We wish this 10th year to be your best.  Happy Birthday, our dear Audrey!

First Reconciliation

We had another reminder of the fact that Kate is growing up, as she received her first Reconciliation two weeks ago during religious education class. She and I had been preparing for weeks, slowly working through a book and attending workshops at church. Kate was super nervous the night before, but I was SO amazed how maturely she handled the actual event. This little sweet pea is growing up too quickly, and the way she handled this event was definitely a point of pride for us as parents. The best part of it all was when we were examining Kate's conscience to organize thoughts about sins, Kate says to me, "Well, I don't think I have EVER done anything wrong." She is definitely her father's daughter. 

Technology Day

Last week, Audrey's class earned a reward for good behavior and voted on a "Technology Day".  Audrey took her Kindle, and she was able to connect to the school's Wi-Fi network.  I had to laugh at my afternoon break when I realized I had these messages from Aud's Messenger Kids account:

11:18:  Mom, my head hurts.

11:20: I messaged you this because I drank water and it still hurts.

11:22: Actually, I drank more and it feels a bit better.

11:23:  I think when I eat lunch it should feel better.

12:00:  Actually, I am fine now.

I didn't read any of this until 2:00, so I was glad to read she was okay. :)

 

Covid Vaccine!

The girls took the first step toward life being totally normal yesterday when they received the first dose of their Covid vaccine. It wasn't without drama, of course, with Kate melting down before and during the process, and Audrey working herself up so much after she almost passed out. We made it through, and then both girls celebrated with cake pops from Starbucks!  Now, three more weeks until we do it all again.😱

Halloween

Our Halloween was a bit more eventful than a typical year. Thankfully, the weather was fairly decent for late October. It was a sunny day, temperatures in the upper 40s, and quite breezy.

Audrey had decided to dive into the world of inflatable costumes. We found an adorable puppy costume, and Audrey fell totally in love with it.

Kate decided to be a witch, and man, did she make the cutest little witch we saw that night. Her slightly mischievous little grin all night didn't hurt either!

The eventful part of the night came when Audrey's inflatable costume kept fighting with the wind, Kate became more occupied with meeting up with friends than being with her family, Audrey's motor ran out of batteries, and Jeremy had to drive home for batteries. After wanting to give up and quit midway through the time, we ended strong with a blown up dog and two girls who both were able to walk with a friend in the end. 

With the large haul of candy we brought home, the girls were thrilled and declared the whole night a great success!
