Party!
On Sunday, the girls attended their great-uncle Elmer's 80th birthday party. Audrey was so excited to celebrate that she made a birthday banner that was hung up at the restaurant! It really did make things look more festive because it was the only decoration there. :) The party might not have quite been the pace and level of excitement the girls were expecting, but they had a wonderful time visiting with family, especially their cousin Jack! Another bonus was eating cupcakes AND walking away with a five-pack of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. It really can't get any better than that!

Plover
This goofy girl started using a new word this week. When choosing her two books before bed, she said she was looking for a book with "plover". None of us were quite sure what that meant, so we all giggled. The next day when I picked her up from daycare, we started to talk about our days. I told her how my day had been filled with plover, and she couldn't stop laughing. Since then Jeremy and I have continued to tease her and use the word in sentences. Today on our drive to dance, Kate randomly said, "Mom, I saw some plover today" and started giggling. Someday I'll have to tell Miss Audrey that plover is a kind of wading bird....

Happy Valentine's Day!
From our little sweethearts/crazy ladies to you...Happy Valentine's Day! This was the most excited I've ever seen our girls for Valentine's Day, and I think they both had a good day. Audrey had valentines to get ready for family, school, dance, and Dana's, so she was very busy and actually fairly organized for the day. She addressed over 40 valentines herself and was ready to do more, if necessary!
We hope you all had a lovely day too! Happy Valentine's Day!

Boots
On an average day, Kate is someone who could easily melt your heart. She has a quick smile, gives great hugs, and has such an agreeable disposition. On Saturday, though, her sweet nature was in overdrive! While shopping in Elkader, Kate found a pair of used rain boots. The price was marked way down because they were used and also broken in one spot. Immediately Kate tried them on and walked around the store while we shopped. Since the boots fit her perfectly, had a low price, and were still usable, I decided to buy them. When Kate realized she was going to get these, she immediately hugged me and said loudly, "Oh, thank you, Mommy!"
From that moment on, Kate went up to everyone we saw, strangers and all, to show off her boots. She would ask them, "Did you see my boots?" Then she would proceed to show them how the boots lit up. Almost everyone was very friendly and gave Kate the attention she craved, and she was in heaven. It was the sweetest experience and made all adults smile!
At the end of our time in Elkader, it was decided Audrey was going to spend an extra night with Geeka and Grandma, while Kate would come home with me. At first, Kate was upset at the thought of a night without her sister, but then, when given a snack of peanut butter balls for the car, Kate said, "Oh, I can pretend these are my sister instead!" :) Oh, Kate, we love you and your boots!

Audrey
Every week we are given reminders how quickly this lady is growing up! Our two reminders this past week were that Audrey led the concluding prayer at her Wednesday night church group, and she can now count past 100. A couple of weeks ago she was getting tripped up on going from 29 to 30. With a little practice, suddenly she's over 100! It almost makes your head spin to listen to her count. What a girl!
