Assembly

We had a couple assemblies the last week of school, and at one, a goodbye video was played for our elementary principal, who is moving to middle school. Students were invited to say a few words about him in the video, and I was SO proud of a funny one Audrey made for him. Her humor, tone, and choice of words were so funny. Many teachers came up after to comment on how well she did. She is really growing more confidence!

Also, Kate's name was drawn out after being recommended by her teacher for good behavior. She gets to run bases at a Kernel's game in August.  

We are so proud of both our ladies!

Last Day!

And just like that, our last day of school has come and gone. It was a wonderful year for Kate. She loved her teacher and shed quite a few tears today. Mrs. L holds a special place in our hearts! Kate had to navigate a year without close friends in her class, and she still blossomed, making some new friends and avoiding some drama.

Audrey had a bit more drama this year and had to really become more organized and studious with her school work. She grew as well and is ready to navigate the middle school world next year. 

I had a GREAT class, making it extra hard to say goodbye today. They wiggle into your heart pretty easily and make you love and laugh each day.

After a few extra work days for me, summer is almost here!

Mini Meet

Kate the gymnast participated in a mini meet at her gymnastics place a couple weeks ago, and it was such a sweet experience. Not only did she take everything seriously and do a wonderful job, but her joy was just radiating out! Her smile was so big at the end, and she is very proud of her medals. Our hearts were all full, even Aud, by the end of the night. The food and ice cream at Culver's might have helped! Way to go, Kate!

Band Concert

Audrey had another band performance this week when the 5th grade band performed Monday evening, along with the 6-12th grade bands. Even though Kate may not have agreed, I found the concert so enjoyable! About half of Audrey's grade is currently in band, and they really sounded great. We have been very proud of her hard work this year and willingness to try something new! She is definitely the first (and only!) chair of the French Horn section.

Musical

On Thursday evening, Kate and Audrey participated in a musical at school for their spring concert. A couple months ago, Audrey expressed interest in trying out for a speaking and/or singing part in the musical, and Jeremy and I were shocked! She is such a shy, quiet kid, but she was feeling confident about this!

She was lucky enough to land a part and played the role of the teacher. It seemed to come pretty natural for her. 😀 We practiced quite a bit over the past few weeks, and she pretty much had her lines memorized! She did a wonderful job, and our hearts were filled with lots of pride.

Kate also did a wonderful job singing. We loved her flair of drama while singing and how her little legs were swinging back and forth where she sat. Way to go, Paulsen ladies!
