Nighttime Routine

Since this is my fourth week back at work, we have now settled into a routine in the evenings.  One part is Kate sitting in her chair while I am in the shower.  When she was first born, I took many showers serenaded by a crying baby.  Now, though, she is so content in her chair.  She looks at and talks to the bugs hanging in front of her.  They must be quite the conversationalists because she is often smiling as she talks.  Here are a couple pictures of Kate conversing with those bugs.

Kate: Two Months

Another month has flown by, and Kate turned two months old on February 16th!  She continues to change daily and grow up right before our eyes.  She is so smiley!  During supper each night, she turns to look at her big sister and just smiles at her.  Audrey will say, "She lookin' at me."  She is cooing and talking to us and can carry on a great conversation!  For the most part, she will sleep about 8 or 9 solid hours at night, but breaks that beautiful habit occasionally.  Her days at day care continue to go well, as Dana keeps saying she rarely cries!  She now enjoys being on her play mat for a longer period of time.  She stares at one particular bird and does her smiling and talking to that bird.

We had to take her to the doctor last week because she had pinkeye, and at that appointment, she weighed 11 lbs, 11 oz.  Her thighs and cheeks continue to grow, so we can tell she is very healthy! :)  She has grown a lot more hair this month , and it is coming in fuzzy and light-colored.

Ponytail

Audrey has been trying out a new hairstyle the past few days--a ponytail!  The first time I did it, she said, "My hair's not in the way!"  What a cutie!  After a nap or some fun play, it looks fuzzy and wild, but other than that, she looks very stylish!  Here is an attempt at getting a good picture of both girls:

Kate's two month update will come later this week!  The attempt at a photo session on Sunday was thwarted by an unexpected spit-up in the outfit we needed.  

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day from our little sweethearts!  These aren't the greatest pictures, especially of the kooky big sister who wouldn't keep her eyes open.  At least Kate is currently cooperating.  Thank you for all the wonderful cards!  We hope you all had a great day.

Kate's Baptism

This weekend we traveled back to Elkader for Kate's baptism in beautiful St. Joseph's Church.  It was a perfect morning to celebrate as a family as Kate became a member of the Catholic church.  We thank all the family members who drove to celebrate with Kate.  It meant very much to our family to be able to surround Kate with so much support and love.  Thank you!

Back to Work!

We are back to reality now that maternity leave is done.  Kate gave us another wonderful night last night of sleeping, which helped our morning go really smoothly today!  It was hard to be away from my girls after seven weeks together, so it will make us all look forward to summer even more.  Kate had a good first day at daycare and only cried when it was time for tummy time!  Audrey was a good helper with Kate and gave us her own report of how the day had gone.  It's fun to know the girls are spending their days together.  Here are some pictures of our beautiful ladies.
