Go Pirates!

It's Homecoming week here, which means everyone is full of pirate spirit.  I received a picture text today of Audrey at daycare, and she was decked out in pirate gear.  Go Pirates!

Hump Day!

Last Wednesday I was telling Jeremy how the student reading our morning announcements that day at school had wished everyone a "Happy Hump Day," just like the camel on that commercial.  That night when we said Audrey's prayers before bed, I asked her who she would like to pray for.  She replied, "Hump Day!"  That means Audrey is obviously wishing everyone a happy Hump Day! :)

Bike

In May we bought Audrey a trike for her to use throughout our warm months.  At first, the bike rides consisted of us straining our backs as we bent over to push her.  Now Audrey is actually able to pedal around, and she does especially well on the sidewalk around our house.  It doesn't hurt that it has a slight decline to it that gives her an extra burst of speed.  The little compartment in the back of her trike has been known to house a cell phone, rocks, and lotion.  It's handy for all kinds of needs!

Silly Pictures

We are just finishing up a wonderful weekend!  We all had supper with staff members from school on Friday night, had a picnic at a park on Saturday evening, and then spent Sunday with family.  We had Grandpa and Grandma Ihde for lunch on Sunday, and then we traveled to Monticello that evening to celebrate Great-Grandpa Bob's birthday.  It was so much fun to see family and enjoy the cooler weather we've been having the past few days.

Here are some silly pictures of our beautiful girl from the past week:

Belle was resting on the bench, and Audrey wanted to sit next to her.  It worked out for about two minutes, until Belle felt like her personal space was being invaded.

Saturday morning Audrey discovered a page of stickers that had come in the mail.  She took each one off and put it on a piece of paper.  When that was done, she realized how much fun it was to put the stickers on her face.  She said to me, "Mama, camera!"   She knows a good photo opportunity when she sees one!

Aunt Kirstin sent a bag of goodies for Audrey to look through.  Between the whistle in her mouth and the silly glasses, Audrey was having a blast!

Wedding

Over Labor Day weekend, we traveled to our cousin Nick's wedding to Tara.  It was a beautiful wedding and fun to see so many family members!  Audrey loved the food, dancing, running around, and dragging people outside to where it was extremely humid.  She must have been looking to make her hair even curlier!  She partied until about 10:30 and then crashed immediately in the hotel room.  What a social butterfly!

Hmmm....I think I'll sneak some of Mom's kiddie cocktail.

That was definitely good!

Audrey's weekend ended with her first tractor ride.  Grandpa Ihde drove her a little bit in their driveway.  At the time, she was nervous by the noise, but now she loves to talk about it!

Audrey's Big News

Audrey just realized she hadn't shared her big news with her blog fans.  In December, she will become a big sister!  Our ultrasound shows a healthy baby, but again, we opted not to find out the gender.  Whenever Audrey is asked what is in her mom's tummy, she answers, "Wooga."  (The sound we've said when touching her belly button has always been "Ahhwooga," which is why she says what she does.) We figure that Wooga Paulsen is pretty gender-neutral, so we don't need to find out the gender.  We're ready either way! :)

We wonder if this shows Audrey's true feelings at the thought of sharing attention at home!

Hot, Hot, Hot!

As we all know, it was terribly hot this week, so our week was pretty quiet.  We did not venture out much in the evenings, so Audrey kept busy inside doing some jobs around the house.  First, she got out her tool kit to give her shopping cart a long overdue tune-up.  Apparently, tools used for building can double as tools for vehicle maintenance.

Once that was complete, she was able to take a break to color.  Instead of sitting at the table we normally use for coloring, Audrey squeezed herself into the Bumbo seat she used when she was much smaller.  She saw it as I was organizing part of her closet earlier in the week, so she just had to have it down to try out.  It worked out okay, even though it was just a little tighter on her thighs than it used to be!

This is Audrey in the chair when she was two months old.

Somehow she makes herself fit!
