Egg Hunt

On a beautifully sunny day, the three ladies of our family ventured out to an egg hunt.  Pushing aside her nervousness about that Easter bunny, Audrey eagerly awaited the hunt all morning.  Once we were there, the hunt was divided into age ranges, so Kate participated with the other 1-2 year olds.  After Audrey showed Kate how to pick up an egg, Kate was ready to go!  She filled her bucket about halfway up before it was time for the 3-4 year olds to compete.  Audrey didn't need anyone to show her anything, as she was on a mission to get the most candy!  Her bucket was almost totally filled with eggs, so in the end, we shared some of our candy with others. :)

The only low point in the experience was trying to get a picture with the bunny.  I thought Kate would be fine, but she swatted her arm at him when we got closer and started crying.  Audrey just kept saying later, "Why didn't the bunny smile in the picture?"  A kind mother at the hunt took some pictures for us, so we were able to catch the girls in action.

If it had been a warmer day, Audrey's plan had been to wear this headband while she hunted.  She thought the Easter Bunny would have liked that!

Kate's hairdo, however, was not determined by the weather.  This slicked-over 'do was styled after she stuck a bunch of sticky noodles in her hair during lunch!

Knock on Wood

Last Friday night, someone asked me if the girls had been staying healthy.  I said, "Yes, we've been great since December."  What happened Sunday?  Poor Audrey was stricken with a severe stomach bug that has lasted almost this entire week.  She recovered after two days, only to catch something new.  She has hardly been able to eat all week.  I caught a mini-bug that only lasted about twelve hours, and so far, Kate only has a runny nose.  We're keeping our fingers crossed she stays that way!

We are on the mend, though, and looking forward to a weekend of health, a trip to the library, and an egg hunt.  Today when I cracked open the screen door to let fresh, healthy air in, Audrey said, "Mom, it smells so good out there."  Since she's only been outside 5 minutes since Sunday, I can see why she wants to get out!  Here are some happier pictures of the girls from tonight!

Next time someone asks me that question, I think I'll just mumble something and walk away.

Go Pirates!

Last night, Jeremy and I attended an annual gala that raises money for the community foundation.  During the silent auction, we bid on and won some gear for comfortably watching outdoor athletic events.  This morning, then, Audrey had to try it out.  It seemed to be working out perfectly, until someone else tried to share the stadium seat.  I guess next year we may have to buy a second!  Go Pirates! :)

It's hard to believe, but  moments after this picture was taken, high pitched squeals were heard coming from both girls as they struggled to share the chair.  It looks so peaceful right now!

Oh, Aud!

Audrey has become obsessed with the idea of getting a dog.  She's been telling her friends at daycare that we are getting a dog and getting rid of a cat.  She even has the cat picked out who is on her way out.  Sorry, Mila.  On Friday, this drawing came home in the bag from daycare, and Audrey said it is a picture of me walking a dog.  I thought her drawing and details were pretty good!

Also, Audrey has loved trying out a few new hairstyles this week.  This was a pigtail day with braids.  She looked pretty cute!  Her second haircut is scheduled for this week, as it is time to trim up those ends.

Audrey's ready for our sunny weather this week!

Cabin Fever

As we look ahead to spring-like temperatures this weekend and beyond, we all feel like we have earned this.  It was a long February, and we are ready for a change.  We want to play in the yard, take walks, and see our snow piles disappear.   Here is some evidence of how much we have cabin fever:

Kate's so consumed by cabin fever that she's started to use pieces of bananas as hair accessories. :)  She's been especially known to do this when it's not a bath night.
