Audrey's First Communion

Back in June, Audrey was finally able to experience her First Communion.  It had to be postponed two months and was totally filled with masks, but it was still a very special experience.  She looked SO grown-up and beautiful, and she handled the mass very maturely.  We love you, Audrey, and we are so proud of you!

Sadie's Surgery

Our crazy but sweet dog injured her leg sometime back in the winter. It would seem better, then she would limp, it would improve, and then she would limp again. Finally, we decided to take her to the vet, and we found out she had torn her ACL. Much to Jeremy's sadness, poor Sadie had to have a very expensive surgery. She did well and is now recovering in our basement. Wish us luck at trying to keep her calm for 7 more weeks! 😫

Fossil Gorge

One of our days away we visited the Coralville Reservoir area and explored the Fossil Gorge. The adults got more into the history of the area, but the girls still really enjoyed hunting for and reading about the fossils. I am sure this is a place we will visit again!

Chickens

To continue with an animal theme of posts, we took a short "vacation" last week to a home about 40 minutes away. In this summer of COVID, we were so excited to score a cheap, beautiful home with a private pool. Unfortunately, a few days before we were scheduled to leave, we received an email saying the pool had broken.

We pushed past our initial disappointment and just looked forward to traveling somewhere other than home! Once we got there and saw the beautiful home, most disappointments melted away.

One perk of the home was our ability to care for chickens. The girls LOVED feeding them, gathering eggs, watching them, and putting them to bed at night. It was a cool aspect to our trip! Aud became quite the chicken lady. 🐓 We especially loved "Roo", the old rooster who crowed many times throughout our days. 

Tadpoles!

After heavier rains, our little pond was filled with water, and before Jeremy could start to pump it out, the girls discovered many little pets, a.k.a. tadpoles. Jeremy and I are now proud grandparents to many, many little tadpoles. We will see how long we can keep them before the water starts to stink!
