Christmas Cousin Fun

The girls had such a wonderful time on Christmas Day hanging out with their cousin Lucy. We all said we need to get them together more often! Lucy has such a fun imagination, which made playing with her a blast. What a group of silly ladies!

Meet Millie

Mille Mae officially joined our family five days ago, and she very quickly wiggled her way into our hearts. She is very sweet, completely adorable, and is already very affectionate to us all.

Her older, slightly grumpier feline sister has not taken immediately to this ball of energy. We are hoping with time it will improve, or else we will be sending them both to therapy.

Welcome, Millie!

Tree

In case anyone is wondering, 2023 became the year that Jeremy can no longer lift both girls at once to put the star on the tree. Either he is getting weaker or the girls are getting heavier. We are not quite sure.

Kate's Party

We tried something new for Kate's party tonight. We visited an art studio, where Kate's friends, plus Audrey, got to splatter each other and a canvas with paint. It was a fun experience, and I think they all enjoyed themselves! For some reason, all four fourth-graders ganged up on Audrey, who ended up with quite a bit of paint on her back.🙂 Kate definitely deserves a bit of time to celebrate her wonderful self, so I hope this was the perfect way!

Happy 10th Birthday, Kate!

Wow! It is so hard to believe that our sweet "baby" Kate is now in double digits. These busy years really do fly by too quickly!

Kate's celebration for her birthday is spread out over a few days. Thursday she took cupcakes to school, and Friday she was chosen for a "Good News Call Home" to her dad, along with getting announced in morning announcements. Today, her actual birthday, she had to attend Audrey's last basketball games, which she was initially ver angry about. In the end, she got to play on my phone and get a lunch at McDonald's. Her day rounded out with some cookie baking, room redecorating, ice cream sundaes, and Home Alone. Her party with friends is coming next week.

We love you so much, Kate, and are so appreciative of the laughter you bring to our lives! You are so bright, caring, WEIRD, and wonderful! Happy 10th Birthday, Kate the Hen who now is 10!

Audrey's Party

We decided to go a little bigger with Audrey's party this year, so we went to a hotel and stayed in a suite with three of her friends. It was a night filled with much drama, a few tears, lot of laughter, and not enough sleep. Overall, I think she had fun, and, two weeks later, I think I have recovered with my sleep. ☹️ Happy Birthday, Aud P.!

Basketball

Aud kicked off another basketball season in mid-October, and once again, she has really enjoyed it. She has grown so much over the past two years with her understanding for the sport. Her nerves may still get the best of her in the games, but we keep seeing improvement from season to season! We love you, #4, and are so proud of how hard you are working!

Shania Twain

Back in early November, the girls were surprised by a trip to the Des Moines area to attend a Shania Twain concert. Our whole family went, and then Geeka and Grandma also went and helped fund the concert as part of the girls' birthday gifts. Audrey had become a fan of Shania a few years ago, and we have enjoyed many car trips singing along to Shania's songs from the 90s and early 2000s.

We had wonderful seats, in the front row of our section, and the girls were so excited for the special effects and being able to sing along with the songs they knew. Kate did get a little tired, but in talking about it the next day on our drive home, both girls were so happy to have gone. Seeing them in their matching leopard print dresses will be a memory I hold close for many years, too.

What a fun night!
