Pikes Peak

Our 3rd full day in Colorado was spent taking the train up to Pikes Peak. After many nerves on Kate's part, we all really enjoyed the experience! It was a really slow ride, and the weather was SO chilly up top. We were mesmerized by the scenery, and Kate especially loved seeing the marmots. After enjoying some donuts up top and snapping a few pictures, we took a slow train ride back down. This is an experience we won't forget!

We ended the day with an hour spent in a penny arcade, which was a fun experience playing retro arcade games!

Zoo

Our second day in Colorado was spent exploring the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The zoo was right in the mountains, so our visit also included hiking. We were excited to see many different animals and exhibits, but the definite highlight for the girls was feeding the giraffes. The second highlight for Kate and me was splitting one of the best cheeseburgers we have ever had while eating at the zoo restaurant. 🙂

Garden of the Gods

The first day of our vacation was spent exploring the Garden of the Gods. This are was gorgeous, and the red rocks were unlike anything we had seen before. We didn't see much for wildlife, with the exception of a woman leading an emu around on a leash.
