Start of School

Wow, am I ever far behind! School started a month ago already! We have fallen into a wonderfully exhausted groove now. Kate is in 3rd grade, and after initially being hugely disappointed in not being with her two best friends, she is now loving it. She has the same 3rd grade teacher (Mrs. L) that Aud did, and she takes great care of the kids in her class.

Aud started her last year in elementary...5th. It makes me get choked up to think about it! She is off to a great start as well. She trades around teachers for different subjects during the day, and she will be starting band soon. She is definitely growing up too fast.

Summer Dentist

Our annual summer dentist appointments were celebrated by FINALLY trying out Frydae. The girls each ordered gigantic sundaes, and we all tried some fries. Minus Kate thinking her cotton candy sundae was "too sweet", it was a rousing success. I think these two sweet addicts will ask to go back again!

Sweet Corn Days

The girls and I ventured up to Elkader for the Sweet Corn Days festival in late July. We were able to join up with cousins to jump in jumpies, ride on a makeshift train, climb a climbing wall, eat delicious ice cream, make sand art, and just enjoy some beautiful summer weather in a picturesque small town. Both girls didn't quite make it to the top of the climbing wall, but they felt proud to have attempted it. Maybe next year!

Great Wolf Lodge

Our last two nights of vacation were spent at Great Wolf Lodge near Minneapolis. We hadn't been to one before, but we had so much fun!! I talked Jeremy into splurging on a big suite, and we loved our room. The girls had their own bunk beds with their own TV. We had a nice area to eat and relax in, and we were able to host everyone in our room too.

We all LOVED the slides and water attractions. We spent two solid days laughing, climbing, and swimming. We were utterly exhausted, but our hearts will full of joy! The cousins agreed that their favorite ride was the "flamalee" ride, as Will said, which was the perfect combination of terror and thrill.

We will definitely visit another Great Wolf Lodge again!
